Synopsis
THE ASSEMBLY is an NA fantasy/sci-fi novel about the struggle to find a sense of belonging in a world overrun with injustices.
Alexus Martin is a self-reliant orphan who yearns to find a sense of belonging in her solitary life. Her days are spent juggling two part-time jobs and community college classes, while her nights are often consumed with terrifying and physically painful nightmares. When she barely avoids being kidnapped by two attackers who don’t seem entirely human, Alexus learns from the unassuming Skylar Ihbrams that a prophecy has identified her as one of eight people throughout human history who can save the future, magical planet of Repono. Faced with the choice of either joining the other seven time-displaced misfits who make up the Assembly of Abilities or risking capture by the malicious Coalition of Creatures who are bent on farming humans for food, Alexus agrees to join the fight and hone her ability of premonition. However, Alexus’s developing powers quickly lead to unanticipated consequences when she glimpses a future alongside the one Assembly member she detests—the condescendingly belligerent Gavyn Edwards. As Alexus struggles to accept a future she never wanted, she finds that being part of the Assembly is far more daunting, dangerous, and emotionally complicated than she ever could have foreseen.
