Samantha Claire and fellow YA writer, Libba Bray, at Society of Book Writer’s & Illustrators Conference in 2018.

Samantha first discovered her passion for writing when she was bored out of her mind while attending community college. While there, she ended up writing several political pieces for a student-organized campus zine and her creative writing professor integrated her gothic short story But Just Ourselves into his curriculum. Samantha then transferred to UCLA where she graduated Cum Laude with a BA in English, specializing in Renaissance Literature. She also has a copyediting certification from UC Berkeley

Samantha has written a few children's books for the Children’s Technology Review award-winning Abcmouse.com Early Learning Academy. The Wolfish Truth, her retelling of Little Red Riding Hood, is used in a couple of California elementary schools as an example for children to consider that there is more than one side to every story.

Most recently  her short story "Like Lemon Drops" was published in the 2020 Los Angeles NaNo Anthology series Songs in the Key of Sunset
